Imago Dei

The first chapter in the Bible tells us that God made human beings (male and female) in His own Image.

Compare:

I am made in the image of God.
Therefore I am of special worth.

I am made in the image of God.
Therefore I have special responsibility.

Cop-out: "Both are true."

It's a cop-out because almost always, one is given priority over the other. Which one? Usually it is the first that gets priority.

To which does the Bible give priority? The first is self-centred and does not express (image) the character of God who has revealed as Love. The second makes more sense of the Bible but is harder to achieve. Here are some pages that open this up.
