"Multiculturalism is Dead"

During the 1990s and early 2000s, the Progressivists (those who pride themselves on having a progressive outlook) saw the recognition and valuing of multiple non-Western cultures as a mark of being progressive. They 'owned' multiculturalism, and academic papers and Progressivist articles in newspapers and other media outlets were full of it.

What they did not expect was that the non-Western cultures did not like the sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, easy abortion or disdain for 'family values' promoted by Progressivists. Once they had invited people from other cultures onto their platforms, they discovered non-Western people spoke out against their views on these issues. Other cultures valued 'family values' and heterosexual faithfulness.

But with the onslaught of homosexual propaganda in the West in the 2000s, these non-Western cultures began to be laughed at, even sneered at. (See, for instance, An Evening with Jackie Kay".) And so, they turned away from multiculturalism. I heard them remark "Multiculturalism is dead", i.e. it was no longer an issue of interest.

What a pity. Could we not learn from non-Western cultures? Or are we so arrogant as to believe that we Progressivists are the only ones who are 'right', on the side of Truth and on the side of History?
