Purpose and Structure of The Dooyeweerd Pages Website
These pages are a mixture containing primarily an explanation of Dooyeweerd's own ideas, but they also reflect my own (sometimes flawed) interpretation of them, and also contain comments of and discussion with others. The pages are deliberately meant to be more than a replaying of Dooy's own ideas, for at least three reasons.
- Because they assume that Dooyeweerd's ideas are not finished or complete, but rather that he started something that is to be developed, therefore there is a need first to understand, in spirit as well as in word, what he was trying to get at.
- They also recognise that his work is not fully or even correctly understood by many. Even the aspects are misunderstood sometimes. So there is a need to uncover the more frequent misunderstandings and place them in the public domain.
- They also recognise that no aspect can be fully
defined. Rather it can be characterised, by reference to things that centre on it. And this characterisation is never finished, rather like a fractal: however closely you examine it, you still find the same (infinite) level of detail yet to be examined and explored.
However, I am 'gatekeeper' for the pages. Any discussion that I believe is helpful to a developing understanding of what Dooy was getting at, or to pointing to areas where his ideas require further development, will tend to be included, often with annotations of my own and especially hypertext linkings to relevant other parts. (Because the views of the gatekeeper can affect the content, you have a right to know my own views and opinions so that you can adjust for them.)
I trust you find them helpful.
Others have, for a variety of reasons
Let me know.
