Dooyeweerd and Phenomenonology

Dooyeweerd's thought was significantly influenced by phenomenology, but he levelled a severe critique at its roots. Here we begin to compare and contrast them.

In a recent (20 April 2005) email, Roy Clouser gave a useful summary of this comparison:

"One quick addendum to Bruce's remarks: tho the WdW agrees with philosophical phenomenology about our being in direct contact with reality, rather than in direct contact with sense data or historical/linguistic constructions, etc., it disagrees that any account of reality is 'presuppositionless'. Religious orientation governs every interpretation of reality from which there can be no 'epoche'."

More to come.
